PinkPug, I'm sure there is nothing there that you couldn't do. Do you know what the hardest part was? Making the matchbox itself! I cut and folded three of them before I got the size right so it would slide in and out properly. The "electronics" really was nothing more than unscrewing the back of a blinky brooch, cutting away all the plastic mounting that didn't fit into the matchbox (I think I used a pair of nail clippers!) and gluing it down. The soldering iron never once came out of the drawer!

Okay, I'll admit casting the epoxy heart did require some specialized materials and skills, but it was really only laziness that made me do that instead of going out and finding a suitable ready-made clear heart. The rest was just beads, fabric scraps and old jewellery bits. The "beautiful simplicity" that Ralph is kind enough to attribute to it is almost entirely due the fact that it really is simple!

Now we all know what to do with the discounted LED Christmas buttons we find on sale after the holidays. Cheesy  lol  What a great idea!

The recent ones were really fantastic -- such tiny LEDs and the circuitry is smaller than the smallest watch battery! There's probably lots of things you can use them for, and you're right about them being discounted after the holidays. The thing I particularly liked about the one I used is that it's motion-activated so there's no need for an on/off switch.

Love the heart! And I agree that the cloudiness adds a nice effect. My mental gears are working overtime to try and figure out what I could make with blinky things.
