Details of swap:
In this swap, participants will craft using repurposed "waste" and rescued materials. Recycling is definitely awesome, but reusing materials before they go off to the plant is even better! Be creative with your materials--they're everywhere! You can use trash/recyclables from your own house, second-hand goods purchased from thrift stores, found items, or dumpster-dived items/supplies*. Basically, if you've rescued it from the trash (or the threat of the trash) to give it new life, it's a reasonable material to use. If there are small parts of your project that you absolutely cannot find materials for without using new ones, just make sure it's really sparingly. I know it can be hard for stuff like paint, thread, etc... just use your best judgment!
Then, along with your crafted items, make sure you tell your partner the story of where you got your materials. It will be fun to see what waste we've saved from the landfills!
*I realize not everyone is cool with dumpstering, so if you'd prefer that your partner did not use dumpstered items, you can note that in the questionnaire. Also, if you are dumpstering for supplies, I am going to assume that you know what you are doing, you know the laws in your area regarding dumpster diving, you are being safe while doing it, and you are not using items that are dirty/potentially dangerous in any way.
