My shrine was based on the song Night & Day sung by Frank Sinatra. I originally wanted to use a glass moon that I have as part of the surprise, so I was looking for a quote about moons & love. This song popped up as part of the search and because of the way this box is made I thought it would be the perfect thing. Turned out that the moon wouldn't fit, but I like the way this turned out anyway.  Smiley

It hangs on the wall... all the metal pieces were different metals so I colored them with a bronze metallic sharpie... it blended them all together a little better

the back... these are part of the lyrics for the song

the drawer pulled out... I guess there a a few surprises with this shrine- the color of the inside is different than the outside...it was made with two small matchboxes,  the insides of the outer part of the box were cut off and I taped the pieces together... the inside drawers were glued together. It measures at just under 2X3 inches without the dangling charms. and then there's my frame inside

the inside of the drawer and back view of drawer

I made the frame inside, it will hold a 1 inch picture and will stand up on it's own..
the picture will slide in from the top... I don't have a picture to put in there so I just wrote the word Love on a scrap of paper and used it

Everything all together...

Wonderful! I love the dangly stuff! The cupid is just perfect! I really like that it is made from 2 matchboxes. The frame is so cute! You could make an inchie to go in there if you can't find a picture! Very well done!

I love how you attached the two boxes together to make the larger one.

Thanks for all the great comments  Smiley

I wasn't sure how I was going to like the color combination as I usually think red and black for Valentine's, but it turned out well... it was fun to do and I got to use some of my paper scraps up.

all the entries in this challenge are so good, I haven't had time to go into each thread yet, but I will.  Smiley

Wonderful!  I'm a big fan of Cole Porter (who wrote that song) and this "gives me happy" as I like to say.

I don't think I knew that Cole Porter wrote the song, just that Sinatra sang it. I did know that he wrote a lot of great songs though  Cheesy

I love that it is different from the traditional red/pink/black for Valentine's (not that there's anything wrong with that). It's a lovely representation of the song and perfectly appropriate for the challenge. Smiley

Thank you all  Smiley

Actually, red, black & silver are my favorite colors so it was real hard not to use them in this, but I wanted to try to use colors that I don't usually associate with Valentine's. Originally I was going for blues on the outside...  the first coat of paint  was a dark blue for the sky at night, but then I put a sort of coppery brown glaze over it and it changed the whole color scheme.

the tiny frame was easier to make than I expected... I started out punching a 1 inch square window in cardstock and then started building it from there.. I may take that idea about an inchie and put one in there later

The colours are beautiful... I love the browns with the dusty pinks. I also really love the way you combined two matchboxes and included that little frame. Great job!

This is beautiful.  Such wonderful crispness, as well as a very fun concept of night and day splitting the scene of the box.  Smiley  By far my favorite part is the frame...it's adorable!

thank you  Smiley

the frame turned out much better than I expected and I have to admit that it was the simplest of the ideas I had for the surprise, it was a fun project to work on
