A few weeks ago we lost our family dog, Penny. She was the most amazing companion. Her loss hit us all hard. But, my mother has taken in particularly hard. So, I asked the wonderful I Sew Cute to help me out with a pattern. She was wonderful and generous enough to oblige. I got to stitching, hemmed the sides, and made it into a pillow for my mom Smiley I put some of Penny's fur in the stuffing so my mom will always have something of her near her. That may sound kinda odd to some people. But Penny was truly special and a part of the family. I'm shipping it out tomorrow. I hope my mom likes it. Ok... I'll stop blabbing and get on to the pics....

I can't thank I Sew Cute enough!

This is awesome and beautiful.  We also lost a beloved dog, Shirley, a few weeks ago and I would be thrilled with such a sentimental momento.  I'm sure your mom was very moved by your gift.

Let me clear the tears from my eyes...Ok. That is one of the sweetest tributes ever. Losing a pet is never easy, sometimes it's as hard as losing a family member. My Tyler passed away early last year (11 year old kitty) and I cried two weeks ago when I found his blanket in the garage. I need to do something with it, like this maybe Smiley

Beautiful job.

I wish that I had created a memorial for my dog when she passed. This is a fantastic project for your mom!

Aww, that's so sweet of you. We lost our dog of 16 years a year ago, and so often memories of him flood my mind and I start sobbing. It sucks!
I kept a bunch of his fur from the last time I had given him a trim. I kept it in a container and was planning to do something with it but it got really smelly for some reason so i threw it out. Maybe it was because it was kept in plastic, I dunno.
Anyway, great job and I hope your mom feels better soon.

I especially love this bc it looks so much like my Sheba. I work for a veterinary clinic and whenever we do a euthanasia, we make an imprint of their paw in sculpy and send it to them with a sympathy card. Crafts are a wonderful way to remember a special pet.

I was wondering if you'd ever posted this to craftster! Great stitching! Adding the fur to the stuffing was such a great idea.
(currently saving some of my kitty's fur for when the time comes to make a tribute to him...although I'm hoping to have many many more years with him yet)

This is a great idea! And it looks so good! We have a bit of fur from all of the dogs we've had, so I think putting some in pillow was a great idea. My mom actually made a vase with the dog she has now (who's 16) using the technique where you add horse hair and then kiln it.
