Tartan skirt turned vest

This project was for my mom-in-law. She had a vintage family Tartan skirt that a mouse found and chewed a hole through. The skirt didn't fit to begin with; so she asked me to transform it into a vest she could wear. This is my first vest ever, and I didn't use a pattern just winged it you know  

I hope you like it! The tartan is for the Scottish Hume bloodline within my husband's family~
