I made a jean skirt for myself out of a pair of jeans I ripped.  I took the leftover material from the pants legs and made hearts to put on the front.  I used one of the hearts to cover the hole.



My daughter liked it so much, I taught her to make one too.

Using the fabric to make hearts is such a cute idea! And way to cover the hole without anyone knowing Smiley. Very clever.

Those are great!  What a wonderful idea to make appliques about of extra jean fabric!  So simple, but you don't see it done and it looks so neat!  And using a piece of denim with the seam down the front for the wedge piece is brilliant.  You get that paneled look that is so flattering to a full figure (like mine).  :-)  And your daughter made her own skirt?  That is so awesome.
