I received my spindle and have been enjoying it.  My 5 year old has really gotten into watching me spin and likes to 'help', he's getting the finger flick down pretty good.  So I told him that I would get the supplies to make him his own drop spindle and I would get him some undyed wool to play with.  I put the spindle together and he painted it blue and then asked me to do the small detail painting you see, he also stuck a sticker on there, I glued it down with some Aileen's glue, I still need to seal it for him.  He adores his new spindle and keeps telling me I need to go buy him some sheep fur lol.  I can't wait to see what he spins up and it will give his dad some 'raw' materials to practice his 'natural' dying lol.

awesome!  My son has been asking me if he can try the spindle I have, but it's pretty heavy, so we ordered some spindles, similar to yours, and now he wants to paint his Thomas too!! He's 4.5 so I hope he gets it Smiley

Bella, yaaay, I think your son should do fine, it's really just a subjective art form.  Think of all the art/novelty yarn you'll get  Wink .  I love the Thomas spindle revolution!

My son really wanted to learn to crochet here about a month ago, I gave it a try in teaching him but his fine motor skills aren't up to it yet.  I felt so bad telling him he would have to wait some more, til he got a little older.  But this is something he can do and it will give his fine motor skills some work outs that it needs.

Just precious. I love the idea of little men spinning yarn. Especially on a Thomas the Train spindle! That is SUPER awesome.

I can't wait for my 2 year old to get big so I can teach her my favorite crafts. However, I have this major feeling she's going to turn out to be my little nerd girl and have no interest in it. She's more into dinosaurs and space. Already! lol I guess I can wait, since I want her to be 2 forever! haha (Speaking of babies, congrats Bella on the little girl!!!!!!!)

That's so cute. I love it.

I seriously can't wait till I have kids and can teach them to craft. It's one of the reasons I really want kids.

Check out some of his yarn he did this week.  I started his leader for him, but after that it's all him.

Yeah I know, makes my first attempt look sad.  You should see him in action, hmmm maybe video it if I can, he grabs the wool in one hand and the dowel in the other and pulls the wool to draft it, to be fair it's pretty rough wool to draft, if it was easier stuff it would be in tatters.  Then he will ask me to hold the wool while he uses two hands to twist the spindle, then he wraps the yarn onto the spindle and goes at it again lol.   Cheesy
