I've been making lots of mittens this winter!

These were a christmas gift for my sister. Wool yarn, slightly felted. The bird pattern is from a book.

I bought myself a few skeins of Noro Kureyon and made this pair of striped mittens. They are machine felted and really warm.

These are my backcountry skiing trip mittens. Wonderfully warm when used with shell mittens! Made from lovikka yarn which is very loosely spun wool.

There were enough Noro Kureyon left for another pair of mittens! The grey yarn is Kampes 3-ply.

A friend asked me to make him a pair of mittens. So I made him striped stashbuster mittens. He works as a tourist guide in Spitsbergen every winter so I hope these are warm enough!

Then I made these. Striped and felted like the previous pair, but in fewer colours and with a chain stitch embroidery added after felting.

I don't have any actual patterns for my mittens, but if anyone's interested I'll write down some directions.

Personal swaps... Would love to trade sewn stuff for some cool hand-carved stamps.

Wow... your mittens are gorgeous! The first ones look like they'd be pretty complex to make and your patterns came out great. My favorite have to be the last pair though, I love the colors and the embroidery on them. Great job!

Thanks everyone! I'm so glad you like my mittens!

I knit all my mittens in the round, using the magic loop method on a long circular.

I find the more complex stranded pattern more fun to knit than the striped ones, but I love the look of the finished felted ones.

The grey and yellow ones are my favourites too. I'm working on a similar pair in green and violet but in a different yarn.
