the local community living organization had a 'fun spiel' this weekend at the curling club. the clsais a not for profit organization that helps intellectually disabled live in the community. most of the funds raised go towards 'luxury' things for the adults who live in the area.  hockey tickets, a lunch out with friends... stuff the govt. deems not necessary.

any way.

a friend is one of the organizers and i offered to make two quilts for the gift tables (everyone who curled got a prize)... however.  when i showed up on saturday ready to curl my quilts were nowhere to be seen. i had a moment of panic and was considering bashing my friend for either keeping them himself  Wink or forgetting them ( tho his most excellent wife was in charge and that would be NOT like her at all)  turns out,  the powers that be decided they were too nice for the gift table and were using them as fundraisers at the curling club. so they were raffled off.

ramble almost over.
here are my two donation quilts.  they are different. and there are no repeats of fabric in either.

Definitely too nice for the gift table! I bet they raised quite a bit with the raffle, and that they've contributed even more to the fun fund.

i congratulate you that your quilts were deemed "too nice".

but i think your quilts are not too nice for the people with intellectual disabilities to receive them.  i think they should also be able to receive (and would appreciate) beautiful things made by their neighbors.  so, maybe, i think your quilts were too nice to raffle.   Wink

but i agree that the quilts probably did help the raffle to raise more money, so there is that.
