For my sister's 21st birthday, I took her to Joann's and told her I would make a quilt out of fabric of her choosing...she didnt pick anything out.  So after pointing her towards the fabric selections on etsy, she finally settled on a bundle of Alexander Henry's Granville line. The only ideas she gave me as to the design of the quilt were that she didnt want anything *too* traditional, and she liked a lot of texture.

I decided on an elongated wonky log cabin, semi-inspired by SewKatieDid's stepping stones quilt (mostly the solid middle colored blocks and the elongated shape, hers is less log-cabin-y i think.)  Its backed with a solid aqua blue, and quilted in many, many horizontal wavy lines.

I wish I took more photos of it, but I had to wrap it up for christmas and give it to her!

Awww, it's so pretty and "light" looking if I could describe the design. Very gentle to the eye. She'll love it!

Very nice. I love quilts with lots of white. I haven't made one myself yet, but I want to since they look so nice.

I like the elongated log cabin. A funky twist on a traditional block.

I've never even CONSIDERED doing an elongated log cabin!  I love this so much.

And I agree totally - the white really sets everything off and makes it look great.  The texture shows up so well on the white too.  Great choices!

I love this too! Love the white as well, although having a doggy it wouldn't remain white in my house for long. When I get around to making myself a quilt, I may have to try something like this.
