I can't stop making these patchwork pillow covers, they're so easy and fun!

Baby Shower Gift:

Envelope back:

The back closure has a double bias tape accent to strengthen the pillow opening:

I made a second pillow for the 4 year old daughter of a friend of mine:

I used monkeys because she's a wild child, frogs dancing because she's funny, owls because she's a smarty-pants, and guitars because she's a rock star Smiley

I made a little stuffed owl on the back as well.  I know it has a raw edge, I hope she doesn't mind.  I couldn't think of another way to do it..  and then I talked to my grandma, and she knew right away Smiley

The pillow that started it all!  I made this one for me.  It's posted somewhere else on Craftster, but the lighting sucked that night.  This is an example of the true colors:

I made a little tutorial, I hope it makes sense.  This would be a great project for people just beginning to sew or even for kids!

I hope that makes sense, thanks for looking!

That is a great pillow-I love the look of patchwork. And thank you for that tutorial! It looks like you spent a lot of time on it, and it makes sense to me(and thats hard to do lol!) so I say your time paid off very well!
I'm definately going to bookmark for the tutorial!

Thank you for this inspirational idea! My Hubby and I are in the latter stages of renovating an old house in a traditional cottage style, and I am trying to make as many of the furnishing and fittings as possible. I have a suitcase of old fabric pieces and will now put them to good use.

I was homemade. Maybe Mum didn't follow the pattern properly???
