various cross-stitch fipperies

I've had a box full of unfinished cross-stitch kits sitting in a cupboard for six or seven years, and a couple of weeks ago I suddenly had the urge to finish them all off.

I'd already done the fun bit -- the cross-stitching -- but I'd never got round to turning them into things.  So behold the many lavender sachets and one pincushion that I now proudly possess:

I also found, in the bottom of the box, two little Christmas cross-stitch things that I think were supposed to be used to decorate cards or something.  But I thought they were much too pretty to be given away and probably thrown out with all the other Christmas cards that people get.  So I sewed some silk scraps to the back, attached ribbons and stuffed them, and now I have two new Christmas tree ornaments:

I got the patterns from a local shop.  But a bit of googling reveals that they were nearly all from the Textile Heritage Collection.  I don't know if the patterns are still available, since I bought them many years ago.   But they probably still make equally pretty kits featuring other herbs etc...

I do that too - I have been finishing up things this year as well. I had at least half a dozen little cross stitch things that had been around for years and years and I have made them up into cards and tiny cushions for the dolls house

I also REALLY like those flower patterns. And Im going to steal your idea for the decorations!

Off to look for the heritage flower patterns (like I need more patterns/kits with the backlog I have....)

Oh, my gosh, these sachets are so cute.  Somehow, you took something I used to think belonged to the realm of my grandmother (pretty scents, neat needlework) and made it new again! And I love the little pincushion. I feel like I could/should go out and make a dozen.
