I am going to be participating in the lessons as well as offering up my assistance (of what little I know so far.)

For the ones of you asking where to get roving or think it will be expensive (before you get discouraged):

If you have a Hobby Lobby near you, they sell felting roving. It is not as nice of a quality as you can get online or a LYS BUT you can learn on it. I did! Most of the time when I go, it's half off. They sell bags of multicolors. $8, 4 oz, 6 colors.

You can use a pencil to make your spindle, most of us have a pencil lying around. I have read you could even use a potato for your whorl!! So this CAN be done very cheaply.

Jane Doe's idea here is fabulous, I'm excited to see how this goes and polish up my spindle skills. There is still tons I don't know. Smiley

ETA: I'm going to be using my Annie May spindle I got in STS that looks just like the one Jane Doe posted. It's a great little spindle if any of you are looking for cheap ones on Etsy or Ebay. There are some relatively cheap packages. Example.

And I am loving the idea of homework!

By day, I'm a primary school teacher and I can honestly say I've never had that response to homework  Cheesy

I'd love to learn how!  My budget is extremely limited, but I might be able to pick up some local roving.

Sounds like fun. I've got the basics down, but would love to learn to ply. It would give me something to do with all the singles I am making in a show I'm in.  Grin

Great! Well, I'll start writing step one now.
I thought I'd leave this post up a week before starting to gauge interest level,
but clearly there's interest  Wink
