I wanted to learn how to spin and bought a drop spindle from etsy. But the whorl
was small and when i learned I wanted to do more yarn so I made my own drop
spindle from a plaque at the 99 c store and a dowel on a flag from there. I used
the scroll saw to cut the plaque into a circle and off I went, drilled the hole and put the hook in.I still don't know if I want to paint it or not.I have only been spinning about 2
months now and I love it.Here is a pic of my spindle.I have used all my yarn so I need to clean some more to use.here is a link to see my spindle

I SO want to learn to spin now! I plan on buying all the supplies and starting my experiments in yarn-spinning over the summer. Sadly, Christmas break will be too full of pre-planned Christmas crafting to be able to learn anything new and once I get back in school...well, let's just say my craft time will be limited. Sad

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for the awesome thread and hopefully there will be more lessons coming up. I also found some really good tutorials on YouTube (The Art of Megan is the channel name, I believe) that make it look so easy! I can't wait to get started and looking at all the beautiful yarns you guys have spun just makes me more and more excited!

Hm... I put my spinning on the back burner while doing some other stuff, and just wondering if this thread was going to pick up again... Thank you for the YouTube vids and all the help.  I was having a hard time getting my yarn to go before the spindle slowed down and went reverse.... I need to try this again now that I have an awesome drop spindle DIY kit.

I hope to pick it back up again.  I don't want to give a definite time line though.   Hopefully sooner rather then later!
