Thank you all for the kind comments!  I have to say, in case any of you try this stenciling method, you should reverse your image and stick the contact paper to the back of your printer sheets for cutting out.  Because the way I did it unfortunately transferred some ink to the contact paper and then onto the wall, so I have very slight black outlines around the image, which I had to touch up.  And every time I walk by now, I see more black lines that I missed!  They hide depending on how the light is.

i love the calming-ness! And the framed scrapbook paper. Such a pity I'm not allowed to paint my walls

Maybe you could just do the contact paper and get the same effect without painting?  It might be a trial in patience and determination, but maybe you could try a low tack contact paper and get the same effect.

Such a clean, retro/modern, yet earthy feel, love it.
Thank you so much for the inspiration, it's making me look at my painting project in a new way....plus I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of framing scrap book paper.  We have very little wall art, and I have a hard time either justifying the price, finding something I like or goes with my house, or that my husband and I can agree on.  This is such a low cost and quick solution, and if I get tired of it, oh well.  Very smart idea, thanks!

My goodness this is my dream dining room. I absolutely love it.

I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious.
