i don't know how new years eve is celebrated in the us or elsewhere, but here people give lucky charms to each other.
that can be ladybugs, coins, pigs, clover leaves, fly agarics, edible or not.

last year, me and my bf gave handmade marzipan pigs
we had a lot of fun making them Smiley

"here" is austria, but at least in germany it's a tradition too.
(this year i learned a lot about american christmas, i really like that i learn things like that through crafting)
