My hubby and I got married at the courthouse so I just picked a dress I loved (I love brown and I love polka dots) but I didn't realize until the big day how much the top of the dress bothered me. I really really wish I would've had something else or at least a cover up on that day. Looking back at the pictures I just really hate how low cut it was! So since that day it's just sat in my closet meaning to be worn on our anniversary but no matter what I did to it, nothing really worked. So it moved into my "to fix" pile where it sat and sat and sat. My original idea was to cut off the triangles and make it a straight across top (like a tube if that makes sense I am have the worst time thinking of what I am trying to say tonight!) but once I cut them off there just wasn't enough material there. (and believe me I hesitated a lot before cutting into that dress I mean that's my wedding dress, ya know?) So back it sat in the corner. Then I thought why dont' I just make it a skirt! So that's what I did! Easy Peasy Tongue

It could be worn high waisted with cute belt! Now to collect materials to make the perfect shirt for it before Sept. 15th (our 4th anniversary) so I can wear it! I'm imagining something cream, sleeveless and ruffley!!!

Okay sorry for all the wordiness!!! If you've survived here are the pics!

Sorry I don't have any before pics and I moved and edited all my pics so this is the only pic I have:

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

It makes for a lovely skirt alright (it's gorgeous!) but as a dress it's pretty too!
(Congrats by the way, you and your husband look blissfully happy together!)

Thank you both! Ya when I tried it on and bought it I loved it but after a day of wearing it it, it felt like my girls were hanging out there and made me really uncomfortable. I tried several other things before cutting into it but I think I'll get more use out of it now Smiley Thank You for the comments! My DH and I have been together for about 7 years now and we are very happy together Cheesy

Cute! I liked it before too. I was a court house bride as well Smiley  I almost went with poke a dots, but shocked myself with a white tea length dress with a black velvet leaf overlay. You will be able to get so much more use out of this skirt! I need to cook something up to do with mine, it's waaaaaaaaaaay to big now! Great job!

It makes a great skirt, and just think of what you can tell people when they ask where you got it.

Thank you! Ya know the thought of a white dress never crossed my mind until after we got married, I just bought one that was on sale and liked. Our ceremony was short but well written and our judge was really nice. The only thing I miss about not having a ceremony (which maybe someday we will, we were pretty short on money then) is our families not meeting one another and photos.

It makes a great skirt, and just think of what you can tell people when they ask where you got it.

Thank U! I can't wait to finally be able to wear it again for our anniverary! Gotta make a shirt for it Smiley

It is better to have crafted and failed then never to have crafted at all.
Yes, I am stalking the Toys and Playthings board. Thanks for noticing!
I'm cheating on Craftster with Pinterest. It's ok though. There's overlap.
