So this is a project I made for Christmas 2008 for my mom.  She cries like a baby every time she reads "I Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch, so I thought I'd try my hand at polymer clay.  This is the first thing I've made with it, and I think it turned out pretty good.  I used acrylic paint on it (which was REALLLLY fun-- haha).

I wanted to paint it sort of messy, so it would be in the style of the book's illustrations, and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

It's based on this cover illustration:

Here's the pre-painting sculpture:

And here's what it looked like finished:

And a couple detail shots:

Thanks for looking!

That is fantastic! My sister and I love the book as well. We've had about four new baby cousins in the last year and they ALL got copies of this book!

Very cute.  This book is a classic in our family as well.

I am looking to do a personal swap with (or will outright pay for) a knitter who could make an adult sized knitted t-rex sweater for Christmas. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

What a great gift.  My mom gave me that book many years ago...and I cry, my mom cries, my husband cries and my kids roll their eyes.

ohmygoshthat'ssofreakingcute!

i knew it! i knew it would be awesome. i am constantly impressed by anyone who works with clay, especially those who paint their works by hand afterward. (two things i am apparently incapable of doing.)

AMAZING.

Hahah thanks.  I'm not really that great either, but it turned out alright, as far as I'm concerned!  I wish I was able to do amazing things with clay, but sadly that's about as good as it gets!

I love this! Love You Forever was one of my favorite books as a kid,  and like the rest of you it makes me tear up now. Beautiful work.
