Update!!! Finished the Day of the Dead version! I'm so happy with it!  Grin

I want to gush about how much I love this pattern!
It's Amy Butler's Frenchy Bag! If you are familiar with this pattern, this is the shoulder bag version.

Inside view:

Fabric detail:

2 years ago I saw the pattern in the store but didn't get it at the time because I was busy with other crafts in the works & filed it on my list of crafts 'to do'.
As part of my new year's resolution which is attacking that 'to do' list...I've finished the Elvis one...& have this one in the works for myself!

The Elvis bag will be going to one of my best crafty friends who has made such amazing crafted cuteness for my kiddos, I just wanted to return the favor a little & let her know how much I appreciate her! I hope she loves it!  Wink

I love the Frenchy bag! The timing for the Elvis bag is perfect since today was his birthday!  I would love to find that fabric for my mother!

These are really fantastic. I got a sewing machine for Christmas and am just starting to learn to sew but one day I hope I can make something this awesome.

Where do you buy your fabric at? It's so unique!

I've had the Elvis fabric for so long...I don't remember where I got it. The small polka dot fabric is leftover from my marilyn quilt. The big polkadot fabric is from either walmart or Joannes.
The skull fabrics were both from Joannes within the last week. I believe it's an Alexander Henry print!
Yay for a sewing machine for Christmas! Don't be intimidated...just grab a pattern & go for it!

Your bags came out wonderfully! I really like the Elvis one! Now I have the courage to pick up an Amy Butler pattern as well. Smiley
I was intimidated at first also...but resigned myself to just do it! Glad I did!

Isn't it funny that I did this on his birthday... it wasn't planned that way. Must be good crafty karma or something! LoL!

You did great on the bags!
I have been meaning to invest in one of her patterns. I love everything she has! The only problem is I make all of my own patterns and you know how that is fighting the great do it yourself attitude inside Smiley its tough Smiley

I hear you on that! I'm a pattern maker & fly by the seat of my pants type of stitcher... so it took some serious discipline to just make myself finish it!  Cheesy

Yes, that is a great and fun pattern.  The fabrics that you have chosen really give the bags a lot of character as well.

If I'm feeling un-crafty sometimes a walk through the fabric store is all it takes to get inspired! Don't you find various fabrics inspire you in different ways? This time the pattern was the inspiration.

Thank you for your kind replies everybody!

I think I saw some recently at Hobby Lobotomy.

And it's worth a try to go to www.shopelvis.com.  They have fabric, even though the prices are a little outrageous.

I'll have to check the local one out then... I rarely have shopped there in the fabric department since they've nixed their embroidery crafting supplies. Thanks for letting me know!  Wink

Hobby Lobby had some of this Elvis fabric! You were right, Elvissa! I can't say how much I bought exactly...but I asked the lady to give me the bolt! I envision a dress for my babygirl...among other things!

So happy to have finished the 'day of the dead' version just yesterday!

If anyone is interested in making one... I bought those fabrics at Joannes & there was plenty on the bolts!

Cheers!  Wink
