I made this rhino cake for my niece's 3rd birthday!  She asked for it!  Who knows why a 3 year old girl wants a rhino cake.  And yes, in the spirit of Steel Magnolias, it was red velvet on the inside.

omggggggg sooo adorable!!! and red velvet is my absolute fave cake flavor ever. did you use a cake mold or just carved it freehand?

She was very excited!  I didn't use a mold or pattern.  I just googled "rhino cartoon" and went by a drawing that I found, carving it freehand from a 13X9.  However, carving a red velvet cake and frosting it proved to be difficult.  All those tiny RED crumbs!!!  But a crumb coat did the trick.  Thanks for your kind comments!
