First, I think this is a totally awesome idea.

So my questions are these:

If it's monthly...would one have an entire month to complete the project, or one month to complete and submit and have the voting?
Would it be like:

May 1st: Announce theme
May 31st: Photos of projects due
June 1-7: Voting
-OR-
May 1st: Announce theme
May 24th: Photos due
May 25-31: Voting

Also, would there be topics that would limit the competition to certain techniques? Such as  "Sew something from fabric or clothes under $5 at a thrift store?"  or, "Knit using only materials found in the gutter." (Okay, so those themes suck, but you get what I'm saying).

Third (I know, I'm long-winded), would there be limits on who could participate?

(Considering how many times I see broken cassette tapes in the gutter, knitting from the gutter doesn't seem at all unfeasable...)

Hey mactabilisdemens!  I just re-wrote the rules to the first challenge to specify an exact 3-day period for submitting your project.  And then an exact 7-day period for voting.

I love both your challenge ideas!  I think some challenges can be really open-ended and some can be invloving specific techniqes.

You and anyone else who has an idea should start a new thread here in this folder for each idea and then see how people like them.

ok, another question - can we enter each craft challenge more than once?  If we're just bursting with ideas and want to make more than one craft?

Under Offical Rules, it says:
  • Post your craft during the period of May 31 to June 2. No sooner. No later.
To enter, just post your project in this thread during the period of May 31 to June 2.
  • Voting will happen from June 3 to June 8
  • Each participant can enter up to two different projects

great idea!
have catagories or guidelines been determined or is the challenge to be totally open ended? seems to me that some limitations would be helpful

ah cool, I missed the "two different projects" bit.  Of course, this is purely hypothetical since I doubt I'll have time for two!

And serenabow, I can answer your question:  the first craft challenge guidelines are at http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=33520.0

I've got a q Leah.  I'd like to participate in this, but alas, I have no camera.  The project I have in mind is very simple, and I'd give detailed instuctions. Is a webcam absolutely necessary?

Well... people are going to vote on what project they like the best.  So you can submit it if you want, but I'm guessing it won't get as many votes as projects that have pictures.

A while back someone suggested that if you ever want to get a digital picture of something and you don't have access to a digital camera, then you can buy a cheap disposable film camera and when you have it developed, ask the photo processor to deliver the pictures to you on a CD rather than as prints.

Leah, I have a suggstion, I know your probabvly always on overdrive, so I'll make it quick:  The craft challenges, after they'redone, you might lock them, and hen when there have been wo challenges after them, delete them or move them o their own folder.  Stupid idea?
