Wetfelted nuno-scarve

Oh boy, what a work. But it was worth the effort, I think. First, i made a nuno felted scarves, white merino wool on ponge silk. So far, so good. But the result came out a bit boring and very massive. So I remembered this technique I saw in a book and tried it. I cut out the leaves from a paper pattern and then machinestitched it in a free style. The scarve looks very fragile, but it isn't, cause the silk and stiches hold the felt together. It's a really fun wear, I decided to keep it for myself!

I did cut out the leaves one by one (with a small pair of scissors). It wasn't the nicest job on earth and it took me ages, but hey, the work had to be done!

You can try to make a scarf like this yourself, it doesn't have to be nuno felted, any a flat piece of felt will do. Just pin a pattern on the felt, trace the lines with a pen, cut out all parts you don't want en then go loose with your sewing-machine (I have a ordinary machine, so I got dizzy making lots of rounds). I think this technique is a good manner to handle scarves that are too heavy and massive. But you need a lot of patience and time. Maybe I'll try another one next year!
