I'm studying to become a textile engineer, I've been dreaming about it for years and now it's finally coming true. I love it! This far we've had one knitting class and one weaving (along with a lot of math). This owl fabric is one of the things I made in weaving class. The pattern is based on an old cross stitch pattern that's been modified to work as a fabric.

And a picture of the fabric in the loom:

The colours are a little off, but the owls are black and dark blue, and the background is white with silver sparkles. They're about 2 cm wide.

wow. I checked out your flkr. great skull fabric too. How on earth do you decide to get into textile engineering? I am looking into textile design at my school since I work with print making and graphic design.

Thank you!
melyssa_marie >> I don't know what to do with it yet, we'll see if I have the heart to cut it at all. Smiley

jessie_jane >> It was a little tricky to get the programming of the loom right, but once we (me and my lab partner) got the hang of it it wasn't too hard.

indie33 >> I went to a clothes design/sewing school a few years ago, but realised that the class about how the fabric itself was made was the most interesting. And when my teacher told me about textile engineering I decided that was what I wanted to do!

That is AMAZING! I couldn't imagine making something like that. I've been wanting to learn how to weave, but I think this would be way out of my league!
