hiya folks, i'll be coming to portland next weekend (saturday night, all of sunday) to take in a few concerts (counting crows & maroon 5 @ ridgefield and then auburn, wa).

i was looking for info on a place i saw in this thread or one of the other portland threads on a place called "Craft Electric". when i type it in to google (like for maps or directions) it suggests to me that it's an electrical store, not a craft place. like, craft is someone's last name or something. i just wondered: Is craft electric a crafting store in portland? also there are two addresses (one on vancouver way and one on mulberry). i just got a little confused.

also on the itinerary are:
backspace, powell's (duh), bridge city comics and we'll probably just amble around downtown and see what else we like. my sig other is waaay into comics so we'll be doing 1/2 crafty shopping and 1/2 nerd shopping Wink

any info would be great. i'll look back for the info that i saw here.

"craft electric" isn't ringing a bell.
As far as nerdery type places, Guapo is my favorite comic book store.  They have a coffeeshop and serve voodoo donuts, and have a decent zine collection.  And they're on SE Foster, so they're within walking distance of my house  Cheesy

I've not heard of Craft Electric, either.  I see you're in the Chuck Palahniuk swap, so you've probably read his travel guide to Portland... there might be some good things in there for you to see, too.

I'm so glad I found this thread!  I'm off to Portland (plus Vancouver & Seattle) in September, so now have lots to investigate!

Any great bars that I must visit on my trip?

Probably a good idea to re-ask this question closer to your trip since bars/restaraunt are always going in and out of business and especially these days.   Sad  I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions, though.  Portland is bit on brewing, the Willamette Valley is big on wine-making and there are plenty of locally produced booze options and bartenders being creative with their cocktails!

I'm not from Portland, but one of the best drinks I ever had was the Moscow Mule at Jake's, they made it with fresh ginger. Heaven!
