Does the bag need to be a shopping bag? or can it be another sort of bag?

Yep, it should be a shopping bag.

Craft Challenge #47 - Reusable Shopping Bag Challenge 2 - Due Feb 1 - Feb 7

This month, your challenge is to create a shopping bag from materials that might otherwise be thrown away and perhaps sent to a landfill.  You can use other craft supplies and components, but the result should feature the disposable item(s) as the focal point of the project.  Your completed bag should be at least as big as a typical paper or plastic grocery bag, but it can be bigger.

as long as its a shopping bag it should be good to go.

Yep, as long as it's something you would otherwise throw away, it's okay.  Use your best judgment on this since obviously refuse varies from person to person.

Personally, I would never throw a pair of jeans away, so I couldn't use jeans as my disposable material of choice.

So, I spent some time last night peering into my trash can, and moving stuff around wtih a stick to see what kind of things I thow away that I could be saving to craft a bag from. Seriously, I did. My husband walked up to me in the kitchen and said
"uhhhh?Huh"
I looked at him and said "Craftster"
Him "Oh. Ok."
Then he went back to studying.

I'm pretty much in a brain stumping mood. I had thought about using platic bags in some way, but I haven't thrown those away in ages.. I'm thinking about using fabric scraps in some way or another. Like the teenie tiny ones that are useless for anything else, because I'm not patient enough for postage quilts.
