wowie, creatingme-- those poms are _killer_.  Not too big at all.  Pompoms are adorable, useful, and should be attached to most clothing articles.

I had to do it, I made one myself.
I've also posted the pattern on my site in case anyone else wants to make the same design.

I crocheted one of these a while back to match an outfit one night for karaoke. I swear, everyone at the bar wanted to try it on! *giggle*

Julieu, you are too kind.  You'll have to let me know if you have any questions about the pattern. I think it's pretty straight forward but I can be flakey.

Marnie, Lion Brand Homespun frays really well on loose ends if you wash and dry it. *wink* We'll call it a very pleasant mistake!

That's what my hat is made of and at the end of my instructions I mention that I think the puffs will get cuter when they unravel. How funny that you got there so far ahead of me. I can't wait to see how the hat looks after some good wear and tear. Cheesy

Why can't puffins eat pancakes instead?

Wow! i've been making the hat in Homespun, too, and now i can't wait to finish it. Okay, i really can't wait to wash it & see how fluffy it gets.
Those hats are wonderful! Smiley  I hope mine turns out half as well.

After I found this thread, I made a bunch of these.  Here are two children's versions I gave as Christmas gifts.

(And yes, it really has taken me this long to figure out the digital camera!)
