In the mail box's defense, I've never had an art teacher, but my MOTHER would say, "Don't let trying for perfection keep you from finishing the job!"

At least in my case, perfectionism can sometimes paralyze, and NOTHING gets DONE!
Agreed! I always tell my son..."perfection is an illusion and unattainable. Strive for excellence..excellence is attainable...doing something to the best of your ability not someone elses"

Lawrence...this is EXCELLENT! I can't imagine the work you put into this and with the help of your daughter? Can it get better?  Love is in the details and you put wonderful details on this and it shows. Would love to see more of your work! Nice work!

like the idea behind the model, but its not really an original design Shocked kinda take the fun out of thinking about what you want to make and how to make it.

 A for effort tho

That is amazing!  I just sent this as a link to a good friend who's husband works for Pixar AND worked on the movie - I'll let you know what he says.  Fantastic job!

This is so amazing! I'm almost speechless.
I really loved the movie UP and seeing this is way beyond awesome! You've got talent (:
I also like how Carl is standing there with his grumpy expression.

Are you a good twin or a bad twin?

This rocks! It is the most fantastic gingerbread house I've ever seen.

Thanks for all the love people... I had a great time with this one, it's my 4th gingerbread house and I learned a lot and used some new techniques and tools.  My wife made her first gingerbread house 5 years ago to donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters for their charity auction and since that year, we have all started making a house for their auction.

In the past my gingerbread houses have always been 'monochromatic' so this was the first one to have so much color and decoration.  My wife helped me make all the different colors of royal icing and gum-paste I used on "Carl's House" otherwise I would have never been able to finish in the time I had.  Thanks dear!

I'm so glad so many people like it.
