Rajawa, the mail box is there next to the gate on the fence, can you see it? I admit I did not put the hand-prints on it however... also it's not made with any cake, it's made out of gingerbread... there is no cake in it at all...

Uh huh, if you are going to copy something, "doing it 100% or not at all" my art teacher used to drill into my head.  Artistic freedom is for your own work.  Next time get that mailbox right and you'll get my vote!

I'm not trying to be harsh, just givin' ya some feedback that isn't all praise!

In the mail box's defense, I've never had an art teacher, but my MOTHER would say, "Don't let trying for perfection keep you from finishing the job!"

At least in my case, perfectionism can sometimes paralyze, and NOTHING gets DONE!

Well... their were many casualties on this project when it comes to details and features... because there is a deadline for the auction, I always have to cut things short... in fact this year, Big Brothers, Big Sisters allowed me to keep it overnight and deliver it the morning after the deadline so I could work all night on it to get a few more details in.

One flaw that bothered me was with Carl... His cane was suppose to have the 4 legs with the green tennis balls... and I forgot about that detail when I was making him...

...luckily my daughter supervised me on what I was doing wrong and where I had forgotten important details, or I would have missed many other details you would have disliked, one detail she wanted me to get around too but I was unable to was the gun at the end of the hose... I just didn't have time...

Luckily for my family there IS a deadline on this project each year, because I would keep working on it forever and they would never get the kitchen and living-room back in order...

ah you definitly get my vote even if you just missed the hand prints, the attention to detail and work that went into this peice is amazing! High fives!!!

I think it's an excellent job. It takes a lot of skill to bring something from one artistic venue to another, and this effort required no explanation for someone who had seen the original. That, in itself, is noteworthy.   

My kids like to pick unusual things to put on their birthday cakes. It's always a major effort on my part to try to get frosting to look anything like the image they choose. If I could anywhere near as close to their wishes as this gingerbread house is to the original, regardless of what color the mailbox is, I'd be very proud of myself.


Though upon reflection, you'd think after 10 or 15 years, the mailbox would have needed repainting...
