I totally share your lack-of-ghia pain. This is pretty fab. My favorite part is your VW vase, but I also like the sound of your license plate frame!

OMFG this is amazing, I have car paint sitting in my shed for nearly two years waiting to do this to my car, I dont have a garage and am waiting for a run of sunny days + free time, in ireland that combination isnt common.

I love the touches to the interior, especially the flower vase. I am totally getting one of those for Betsey (my car) I am planning a big 'Love' down one side and 'Joy' down the other, with all sorts of hippy/psychadelic flowers and swirls etc. But you have really given me inspiration to get moving on my car.

thanks

I don't know whether these are available in Ireland, but see if you can score a dashboard lava lamp somewhere. I bought one last night for $6 at a local headshop. They're made of plastic and have glitter inside instead of wax. You stick them onto the dashboard with double-sided foam tape and plug them into the cigarette lighter. They're very cute.

I love the idea of a dashboard lava lamp. I drive a lot and sadly neglect the car, its like a tip inside, but maybe if I gave it some lavalamp type tlc, i might be tempted to keep it mess free!

Being a terrible housekeeper does not dampen my enthusiasm for interior decorating. Besides ... the lava lamp is a good way to distract people from the pile of fast-food wrappers littering the floorboards.  Wink

i love you! haha I had a late eighties cadillac and after i hit a deer and got a differnt color fender i realized that i had to do something about it. So it became a janis joplin car, but half way through me painting it the car died completely =[ so sad.. but then i found the car of my dreamms and bought it, a 1978 ford fairmont futura which is bright yellow i love this car wayy too much to paint it, but the interior looks like it came right out of the sixties. =] The bf has a 73 vw bus, so we bith have the most noticible cars in town. I hate new cars, i dont think i will ever buy one.

I finally managed to catch the local tie-dye shop open today. I bought a sheet, which I will be draping over the backseat as soon as I clear out all the clutter. I'll post pictures of that and the new seatcovers (plain gray and black from the automotive shop, with hippie-themed patches ironed onto them) and dashboard lava lamp sometime in the next couple of days.
