Your post inspired me to figure out how to make a button bracelet before I saw your tutorial/example post. Here's a few more pics/tutorials that I found online to throw into the pot.
If anyone crochets these might be helpful. I don't crochet so these are beyond me!! (I'm going to do something closer to what wannabe did!)

INSTRUCTIONS
1.ÝÝÝCrochet chain to fit around wrist and join in a circle.
2.ÝÝÝSingle crochet into each chain stitch.
3.ÝÝÝDo a total of 4 rows of single crochet and leave 3 feet of elastic cord at the end.
4.ÝÝÝWeave/sew 3 rows of buttons on with the loose elastic cording.

* 5 Buttons (per bracelet)
* 1.75mm steel hook, about size 7
* Chain 60, leaving a 6 inch tailÝ
INSTRUCTIONS
Slip stitch 10 chains from hook making the closure loop for the bracelet
*10 Half double crochet around the loop to make it stronger
5 half double crochet in the foundation chain
chain one
put hook through button hole, single crochet around button
chain one*
Repeat * to the end, be sure the last two buttons will fit through the loop you made.Ý End off, leaving a 6 inch tail.
End by tying the two tails together with several overhand knots so the bracelet doesn't come undone, cut the tails close to the last knot. Or, weave the ends in.
Button the bracelet around the wrist using either the last or next to last button, depending on wrist size.
Make two or more bracelets wear them stacked on your wrist.

*1/2î lucite rings (Number of rings: S=12, M=13, L=14)

Note: Each button is attached to the top of a ring. The bracelet is worked
along one side, then back up the other side.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Attach thread to the hook with the usual slip knot.
First button and ring: Insert hook through the top of the first hole of the
button, then through a lucite ring, yo, pull up a loop through the ring and
the button, yo, pull through both loops on hook; work 12 sc in the ring;
insert hook through the second hole in the same button and through the
same lucite ring, yo, pull up a loop through the ring and the button, yo, pull
through both loops on the hook. Leave the rest of the ring unworked.
Next button(s) and ring(s): Insert hook through the top of the first hole of
the next button, then through a new lucite ring, yo, pull up a loop through
the ring and the button, yo, pull through both loops on hook; work 12 sc in
the ring; insert hook through the second hole in the same button and
through the same lucite ring, yo, pull up a loop through the ring and the
button, yo, pull through both loops on the hook. Leave the rest of the ring
unworked.
Repeat this step until you have all the buttons and rings attached along one
side. Do not fasten off.
Continuing in the last button and last ring: Insert hook into the same hole
of the same button and through the ring, yo, pull up a loop through the ring
and the button, yo, pull through both loops on hook; work 12 sc in the ring;
insert hook through the next hole in the same button and through the same
lucite ring, yo, pull up a loop through the ring and the button, yo, pull
through both loops on the hook.
Next button(s) and ring(s): Insert hook into the next hole of the next
button and through the ring, yo, pull up a loop through the ring and the
button, yo, pull through both loops on hook; work 12 sc in the ring; insert
hook through the next hole in the same button and through the same lucite
ring, yo, pull up a loop through the ring and the button, yo, pull through
both loops on the hook.
Repeat this step until youíve completed the second side of the bracelet
(both holes in each button should contain 2 scís); join with a sl st to the
first sc. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Thread needle with tail
and sew together the 2 scís in each of the holes in first and last buttons to
form the bracelet into a ring. Knot securely. Weave in ends.
