Oh!  I saw those zipper brooches in Ready Made this month!  Very nice.  I'm going to try the bottle glasses out of that same magazine as soon as I get some time without the kiddos.  I don't want to be breaking bottles with them underfoot.

I finally finished these tree plaques for my mom!

They were meant to be done in time for Christmas 2009, but better late than never, eh?  Now I'm packing them away until next Christmas so I won't be tempted to give them to my mom for her birthday in March.  (Actually, I'm using a Sharpie to write "Christmas 2010" on the back so I can't give them to her early!)

I love your seasons plaques!  Are they handbuilt from clay?  Is it regular clay ( I don't know the terminology) or the polyclay stuff?  Also; how big are they?  You did such a beautiful job!

Thanks!

I made them from salt dough (2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 1 cup water).  Each plaque is about 5 inches across.  I love 'em!  Hubby wants me to make some for our house.

I'm impressed even more now that I know they are salt dough.  I've worked with salt dough many times but I've never achieved that quality of work.  You've inspired me to try again.  Oh one more question, what temp did you bake them at and for how long?  I hope you don't mind all the question, especially considering I'm kind of hijacking the thread.  Sorry

I love how your salt dough plaques ended up. They are simply gorgeous, your mom will love them.

The Zipper brooches are also amazing, I've been wanting to make them for ages, but I can't quite get my mind around the concept.

And of course, those socks look so toasty and quite comfortable Smiley

Tonight, inspired by karin_'s post in the Sweat Shoppe Swap Round 22 ideas, I made my little brother a set of 8 apple key-board magnets.
He's a bit OCD about making sure every assignment and appointment date is on his white board calendar, and I thought that these magnets would be a great way for him to post little notes about certain days on the board to make them more recognizable.

They're pieces off an old apple keyboard, since we all own macs. I thought they were very appropriate. Smiley

I love EVERYTHING and ANYTHING made from keyboard keys. I have thousands of them, so I love seeing people do things with them.
