I stitched this for a friend's birthday, I'm not entirely sure if it's her thing as we don't know each other that well but our boyfriends are best mates and are organising a joint birthday party for us. I know she wants to be a costume designer so I picked a flapper (anyone who has seen any of my other embroideries wouldn't find this surprising). The beaded headband is something I've wanted to try for a while and this felt like the perfect opportunity.

It took about two weeks from the drawing stage. I stitched the background about three times, I'm still not entirely sure it's right.

you are my idol now, and have inspired me greatly!!  I love the bow!!  I am sure she will enjoy this gift.  It is a work of art!  How is the hair stitched?

Thank you everyone!

The hair is long and short stitch.

melyssa_marie - i love the way embroidery and beads feel too, it's my first try using beads on mass in a piece, i usually just use a couple. so i'm going to try it again at some point.
