I just looked at postcrossing.com too and signed up lol.

How did everyone start their postcard collections? How many do you have?

I have been collecting postcards since I was a teen, I like to get ones that feature pictures of  towns/cities or pics of something special in that town I visit. I also buy ones from theme parks I visit too. Then I started swapping with other Aussies, I have swapped quite a few times internationally and have received some beautiful postcards. Sadly I have been flaked on alot too which sucks. I keep mine in a photo album (i prefer 4x6 postcards) but planned to get some of my favourites put in frames.

How does everyone else store their postcards?

Ok, I'm interested but as almost always, I have a question. Cheesy

Are we actually posting these post cards or do we put them in an envelope for the collectors?

You actually post the postcards. That's the fun. But also that is up to your partner.
I'll be sending mine in envelopes, I hate when the postal system wreck postcards!

I don't really have a "collection", but I do buy the odd postcard when I see one I love.  I like to keep images that inspire me near my desk.  Ex_Gratia made me a memory board, and I keep greeting cards and post cards I receive there to make me happy while I craft.

I started a while back. I'd collect them as I would travel or ask friends to send me some when they are on vacation. Penpalling also got me a ton of them.

I also found postcrossing.com and signed up. It's so much fun getting postcards from around the world!!

i'm going to start a scrapbook for my postcards. Right now they are in a box.

I played with that last night, and signed up too!  There's a pile of postcards in my mailbox right now heading to new homes in the world!  (It helps that I found two whole books of stamps we bought when mailing our wedding invitations 2 1/2 years ago, that are no longer the correct postage to use for bills.)

I started in postcrossing I think in 2005 and I used to be on postcardx before it went defunct Sad

I was also on sendmesomething but I don't know what happened to my profile!

So I basically have a big stack of postcards and no one to send them too.

Just visited postcrossing for the first time. I can feel a new obsession in the offing... I started my collection when I moved from the US to the UK. I'd always loved postcards and that seemed like a good reason to start bugging my friends and family to send them. Smiley

i'm going to start a scrapbook for my postcards. Right now they are in a box.

In my old flat I had all my postcards grouped around a huge world map. I still have to find a good place for them in the new flat. Scrapbooking sounds fantastic, especially for the ones I buy Smiley

I'll swap for postcards, badges, maps or brochures from everywhere in the US! I'm an English teacher and always happy about authentic material for my classroom.

I personally don't have a postcard collection (all official and such) but I'm getting into travelling more and love the idea of getting a postcard from each new place I visit. Even ones I haven't!

i dont think i would call it a collection,
but i like to scrapbook, and whenever i go anywhere near, i pick up postcards from that place and put them in my scrapbook with the pictures and other things i take away from that trip.

i also have a friend i met my first year of collage who travels a lot, and now every time she goes somewhere new she sends me a post card. the latest postcards i got came from calgary, alaska and amsterdam. its always so exciting to get them in the mail!

I would love to scrapbook mine, though I always find I have a ton of other things on my to do list, so they stay in the photo album for now. It keeps them well protected too as my kids really love looking at different places we have visited or the ones I've received from around the world.
