Penguin Hors d'oeuvres

Tomorrow evening having a ladies get together and I made these cute penguins. They are super easy, and YUMMY!!!!







Crazy easy Cream Cheese Penguin recipe:

Ingredients

    * 18 jumbo black olives, pitted
    * 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
    * 18 small black olives
    * 1 carrot

Directions
1. Cut a slit from top to bottom, lengthwise, into the side of each jumbo olive. Carefully insert about 1 teaspoon of cream cheese into each olive. Slice the carrot into eighteen 1/4 inch thick rounds; cut a small notch out of each carrot slice to form feet. Save the cut out piece and press into center of small olive to form the beak. If necessary cut a small slit into each olive before inserting the beak.
2. Set a big olive, large hole side down, onto a carrot slice. Then, set a small olive onto the large olive, adjusting so that the beak, cream cheese chest and notch in the carrot slice line up. Secure with a toothpick.

lol! my boyfriend and i made these last night. he used to make them when he was little. we were literally just talking about them just before i saw your post! i thought on their own they were a little on the bland side. if i did it again i might add some garlic and onion powder to the cream cheese for some flavor.

Aww! I used to make these too, when I was a kid! Well, my mom did, and would let me "help." We got the recipe from a Ty Beanie Babies book. Go figure. Thanks for reminding me of these! I am going to make some for a wedding reception I am going to tomorrow night!

Awww, these are so cute. I love this idea. When I try these my kids are gonna have a go at me about meat and milk. lol.  On second thought, do you think tofu will work instead of the white cheese?

Thank you for your answer.  Since asking you the kids gave us a surprise visit last night so now they will come in two weeks so I'll have another week to track down some Tofutti cream cheese or similar. Hopefully also we will be getting some winter weather by then too. Right now it's summer in the middle of winter.
