Happy New Years everyone! I hope everyone had a awesome and safe new years eve.

Lets ring in the new year with cozy yarn.

First snow
was a fiber batt from Spunmonkey. It looked like my mom, one day it will be something for her not sure yet.  Huge skein. thread plied with metallic woolly nylon.

Ballet Pink
Was fibers from my stash and some from Spunmonkey carded into a batt, for a beret.
thread plied with woolly nylon.

My new years resolution is to find an art teaching position (if the economy breaks) and to take more photos.

Can't wait to see everyone's yarn.

oh that first yarn is gorgeous! and I love the nubby, thick/thin style of your spinning. where do you find wooly nylon?

these were all spun some time last month (someone please tell me if I've posted these already)
spun from fiber dyed by lapoli. super bulky

lightly spun merino single with silk cocoons

spun from this:

on the bobbin:

hand dyed B&W millends. I plan on plying it with a black merino single then it's off to live with another craftster!

for the new year, I hope to post more to FF Grin

Yeaaa!! I love the yarns posted so far. I am especially in love with the pink one.. I been feeling like I was neglecting the new wheel a bit so I decided to whip up a few batts to spin. I really haven't spun much of my own batts. Only a few. I made these out of Finn, farm wool mixed breed, a little milk fiber for fun and a tiny dash of Guanaco and yak for a little more texure. I am feeling like it needs to be plied with silver thread so I gotta locate mine in that crafty room mess I have..
Batts from outside and inside:

It is slightyly more pinky than it appears. I used longdraw and from the fold to spin it..

All of these were spun this holiday and finally finished this week.

Mini Skeins:
Spun and plied with a spindle: Alpaca-Silk blend, laceweight mini-skein

Thick and Thin Merino, wheel spun and spindle plied.

2 Ply Merino-Silk blend.  Wheel spun and spindle plied using a plying ball

And then my favorite ... my first coils!!!  They're far from perfect but I love how they look.  I'm tempted to weave it into a bag ...

Nesse, I love whats on the bobbin right now. Ariaya, your last merino silk blend is so pretty!

I've been gone from the crafty world for soooo long, but 2010 is here and I decided to buy myself a camera today! Here's what I've been working on lately:

we'll start with the oldest first:

Hand dyed mill ends in a light seafoam color. This was actually spun up over the summer and I didn't do anything with it. I think there's less than 100 yards here.

My favorite:

400ish yards of hand dyed merino. I unforunately don't have a picture of the yarn except for the tiny little bit left over in the corner, but I made gloves and a hat out of it! The gloves are pretty well loved at this point.

400ish yards of gray merino, jacob, and icelandic top blend. Its actually on the darker side, but with all the artificial light needed to take a decent shot, only the lighter shades came through. Ive also got around 100 yards of a light gray jacob thats being used for accents. Going to be crocheted into gloves for my partner:

150ish yards of hand dyed merino single:

I got hand carders for christmas and I went crazy carding things. This was an experiment in rainbow:

Im currently in the process of carding over 3 lbs of wool to make an afghan with for my partners graduation. It's going to take for EVER.

Nesse: Beautiful yarns I love the greens. I got woolly nylon from Joann's when they were on clearance. They replaced it with a Gutterman nylon stretchy thread like woolly nylon.

Thenutmeg2000: Beautiful batts the second photo reminds me of stone.

ariaya: your coils look awesome!

vanillaxlight: your gloves and hat are gorgeous.
