The PDF version of the January file has been updated with the corrections. There is a link on the site for the pattern download (which says Version 2 when you open the file).

Yay for friendlyand helpful pattern designers! Wink

Oooo I think I might have to join in with this! I've never done a CAL before, and to tell you the truth I'm not great at squares, so this will be a great way to learn! Cheesy

Oh, do join us! And, it is a great way to learn. I started on the '07 12" CAL back when I was just re-learning how to crochet and squares really helped me to improve my crochet skills and my pattern reading skills. And, I love that each block is a manageable project, yet it produces something that I wouldn't have tackled otherwise.

Colour scheme wise Im thinking of just shoving my hands into one of my boxes of yarn and grabbing a few colours and doing it that way lol  Cheesy or maybe getting my SO to choose for me, hes usually not bad with colours  Wink and even encourages me to buy more yarn  Kiss

Getting the SO to participate is a bonus! Especially if he encourages you to buy more yarn Wink

Ooooh, I'm terrible at picking colours!  (Seriously, anything you've seen of mine that had a good colour combo was either accidental, or I borrowed the colour combo from someone else!)

On a recent visit to Mary Maxim I found this green yarn that I absolutely loved, but felt would be "too much" if I used it by itself.  My parents were there with me, and so I got mom to help me find other colours that would go well with it.  We found a three colour combination that I'm quite happy with (and I bought all of the yarn they had in those three colours... you can never be too careful, especially when you plan for said yarn is a vague "maybe a blanket?"...)

ack ack ack, you're such an enabler it's not even funny
i started the 08(?) CAL and only got as far as feb (darn uni getting in the way) so i could add those 2 squares too to bulk it out, but i just used whatever colours were to hand so they don't match
maybe later in the month i'll have some money to buy co-ordinating yarns
then i'll be working on 2 blankies this year (there's a magazine out this year (in the uk, possibly other countries too) called the art of crochet and you get yarn with it to make squares for a blanket (plus patterns for other really nice stuff) which i'm getting even though i already know the basics, it's teaching me to crochet in british english though so YAY) but i can manage 2 blankies, they'll just have to be gifts

Managed to loose my crochet hook before, so grabbed another, lost that (this is a frequent thing) and went to put a third in my hair where I would loose it... and found the other two there  Embarrassed lmao  Cheesy

I've given in lol! Cheesy I've spent the last hour and a half crocheting and come to the end of the pattern, but it doesn't measure 12''. So I'm just gonna add some more rows Smiley

And Selnith - I've seen that magazine advertised on telly! I was thinking about getting it too, even though I too know how to crochet lol Cheesy

i bought it, 100g of yarn, a hook and some pattern-y goodness for 99p, i couldn't resist
even at 2.99 i'll pay it for the patterns, and the feeling that i'm not a wierd, lone, crafty type person

-Edit To Add-
The hook is a size i already have but the one from the magazine is shiny and we all know that that makes it an entirely different thing from the matt one i already had
