I hope I am posting this in the right section. If not, please feel free to move it Mods!
I never got around to posting this, but it was made for the WWP14 Shrine Swap. I had never made a shrine, and really wanted to try it out. Luckily my partner and I really hit it off and she gave me so many ideas to work from. She was a theatre major in school (as an actor) and I am a professional costume designer, so my mind kind of drifted in that direction. She also wanted to be able to keep her shrine out somewhere in her house. Her kitchen has a black and white Parisian theme, so I combined the two, and made her a shrine to French Theatre, circa the 1950's.
I started with a pre-made wooden box, which I stained, then dry brush stenciled on some fleur de lis.
The whole thing then got a few coats of poly, and then I moved onto the inside. I wanted the two sides to resemble the stage, and her dressing room. I painted the whole inside black, and then mod podged the diamond and French script pages into place, then started filling up her dressing room and the stage.

The stage had red double knit curtains, which I thought actually looked more like velvet than actual velvet, in miniature. The "set" is various bits of paper including a 'Parisian' clock, and wooden stars painted gold. The Diva herself is a paper doll, that has been accented with glass seed beads for a necklace and on her dress.

The footlights were made from silver spacer beads and clear glass beads. This is a detail shot of the locket, and the shrine-within-a-shrine, to Dionysus, god of theatre.

Finally we have the Diva's dressing room, complete with costume change for the next scene, portrait of her "beau" (a charm made by
leopardstripes that I got in the Bead Soup Swap), a set of Comedy & Tragedy masks, a window over looking the Eiffel Tower (something no real dressing room has, even in Paris!), bits of black lace, jewlery and flowers from her many admirers, and French coins lining the walls.

I really gotta make myself a shrine one of these days...
