I made this wall quilt for Pinkleo in the 12 Days of Christmas Swap.  It was part of her Day 2 gift.  I started off by laying out some craft paper on my cutting mat, and giving myself a rectangle that was 24" x 36".  I then drew out my horison line, and the tree.  Instead of piecing all those curves on the landscape, I actually constructed it with Heat'n'Bond, which gave the project a light stiffness that I think will help it hang on the wall well.  I then went over each of the seams in a zig-zag.  Then I appliqued the tree on top of the whole thing.  Wow did that take forever to get around all the branches!  After that, I quilted it (with bamboo batting, and a muslin back) along the hill and sky lines, and bound it with one of the hill fabrics.  It was hard to let this one go, so maybe I'll make myself one for my living room....

OOOhhhh, if you get a chance, I'd love a picture of it up in your place!  (I'm working on a scrap book of all my quilts, and my favorite pictures to add are the ones in the homes they were intended for.)

That is so beautiful. Simple, yet so much work and thought put into it. I love the colours, the hills, everything. No wonder it was hard to give up!

I love the color gradations of the background - so mild and simple, but so effective - it gives the tree so much definition without being too distracting.  Very nice!
