Looking for things to do on the 50 things in 2010 and I have enough stash to make 40 items. I can't wait to use up a lot of my stash so I can get more fun stuff.
A lot of my fabric was bought when I didn't know any better and bought the cheapest stuff I could find. Now I want to only buy the higher quality product, but I don't have room (my husband wont let me until the other stuff is gone). My husband and I want to get to a point where I buy and complete a project, then go buy more. I know I can get there, it will just take a little while.

I actually used to be like that with yarn... I used to have like, two or three skeins, and then worked off of that... I was actually pretty efficient... I will have to show you my yarn stash now... and I'll have to make a bunch of items to use a lot of it up.
Right now I'm on a caron simply soft binge... so all of my older stuff I kind of scoff at... I guess I'll have to find SOMETHING to make with them. I'm thinking ferret toys and such... But that won't take too much. I guess our ferrets always need blankets... << Smiley

I have absolutely no idea, was given them without labels, double knit acrylic lilac wool, I've simply weighed them. Although I'm not sure I've ever seen yardage on any wool I've bought (I'm from UK)

Good luck with only buying as needed! ha ha  I swear it is a disease...but I am trying very hard...I write down what I think I need for a project and then I try to think of what I can use instead...it seems to be working so far!!

I bet with what you like to make, Ariethine, that you have some spare yarn...hee hee

I found a school in Philly that teaches boys and girls how to knit and crochet...they loved the acrylic yarns I finally pryed out of my stash...

My current stash busting project is a cast cover. Since I'm in the darn thing for 5 weeks. I'm using up some Black and Navy red heart yarn, and I won't care when I'm finished with the cast, and it gets thrown away.
I also don't care that there's not enough of each color to do the whole thing in one color, because the point of it is to be able to wash it, keep my toes warm, and not have to go out when the cast starts looking dingy.
I made these before last time, and they take about 4 ozs. of regular yarn.
I'll post it when it's done. Probably tomorrow.

ooo--sorry that you have to wear a cast so long!  What a pain!

At least you have the right attitude--making yourslef as comfortable as possible!

Can't wait to see your pics--not sure I have ever seen a handknit cast cover!!

I need to do that always in my room... that really is a great idea!! Smiley

I'm gonna post a link to my project for my dad, because I spent less than $3 dollars on it, and the rest of it came from my stash. Smiley I'm so proud of myself. I was about to break, because I wasn't sure if I had any black fleece, but instead of buying it (which would have cost another $3, I rummaged and found my fleece! (Actually Josh rummaged it for me.... Smiley  Gotta love him! I pride myself on not buying it!!)

>< Sorry, can't modify... but I forgot to say, I am VERY sorry that you have to wear a cast for 5 WEEKS!! Wow... >< I sprained my ankle and had to wear a very temporary wrap thing, but even that was pretty miserable... I'm really excited to see your cast cover though!! Well, on to my next project. I plan to stash bust 100% of it. Smiley
