Star Trek Cross Stitch
«
on:
December 31, 2009 07:21:12 AM »
I finished this piece while in the Big Project Stitchalong
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=285603.0
Time Taken: 8 months
Number of Colors: 17
Final Size: 262 x 207 squares
I was motivated to finish this when the new Star Trek Movie came out, so it understandably took me longer than I thought it would.
I'm going to sew it into a pillow, which will be posted on deviantart (
http://coincollect408.deviantart.com
)
For those of you who don't know, this is Spock and Kirk from the Original Series of Star Trek

When I was growing up, my mom had nearly every episode of the original series on VHS, so I understandably have a soft spot for things Trek-related. I love this. The image you used, the pose, is a great piece to begin with, but then the fact that you stitched it, and in B&W no less. Perfect.
Now move on to something with color and give yourself a well-deserved break! LOL!
ROCKS!

This is the coolest needlework
ever!
This came to me through the GeekCrafts.com RSS, and it finally inspired me to join Craftster instead of, um, just lurking here whenever GeekCrafts leads me here. I haven't cross stitched in years, but if those charting programs can do this kind of detail now, there's the motivation to try it again. Thanks so much!

I actually bought a program called Stitch 2008, which converts pictures into counted cross stitch patterns. Its a little pricey but I'm quite content with the outcome

Ohh! I want to learn to crochet JUST so I can make a tribble some day
And I totally know the feeling, when I was little my father sat me down and had me watch Twilight Zone, Star Trek and Star Wars

I used a program named stitch 2008 to convert the picture to a counted cross stitch, which doesn't have the image printed on the fabric
I could never get the printed cross stitches right

If you really want the pattern, you first have to download a trial version of Stitch 2008, and then I can email you my pattern and you can open it in your trial and print it. You just can't change anything about the pattern itself.
If you don't want to go through the trouble, a very kind person on DeviantArt made Star Trek TOS patterns here :
http://black-lupin.deviantart.com/art/Star-Trek-TOS-Cross-Stitch-134307978
Thank you everyone for the kind comments
I ended up making it into a pillow (although the silver and black frame would have been nifty) and it can be found here :
