There are no before pics because his room was basically a mattress, a box for the bed that was not assembled, and some toys scattered around. Fairly nondescript. I couldn't paint or anything like that, so it's not as super cool as I may have liked. But here is the finished product! I'm in love with it!

In case you were wondering, here's the list of things I bought:

IKEA KURA bed: $199
IKEA KURA bed tent: $19
IKEA SULTAN FLORVG mattress (That's the one and only time I'll ever say that name in public again. >.<): $99
Chalkboard paint, primer, and supples: $40
2 Mainstays bookshelves: $38
18 Dollar Tree basket finds: $18
IKEA KASSETT magazine files: $3
IKEA MINIFNGST hanging stuffed animal storage: $3
IKEA NJE storage baskets: $4
IKEA NJE wall pockets: $6
IKEA MLA chalk (I DO NOT recommend this to anyone. It breaks WAY too easily.): $2
IKEA SMILA moon lamp: $10
IKEA FNISS wastepaper baskets: $6
IKEA SIGNE rugs: $6
Sterlite 3-drawer wide cart used in closet as a dresser: $16
Miscellaneous bought throughout the past year or two, including a PotC set that has since been added: $50

Total: $516

It's much more than I originally planned on spending, but I think it'll grow for a long time with him. And there's plenty of room to expand into since six of those little baskets are complete empty and several only have one or two toys in them.

So...Whatcha think, Craftster? Did I do okay considering I can't paint?

I love the lights below the bed, that's so cool! And I've never seen those little bed tents like that before, I wish I had one of those when I was a kid,  especially with the moon nightlight to go with it so it looks like the sky! I think it looks great, and I'm sure your son is loving it!

Very cool!! Is it sad that I'm 19 and I still want that bed? Cheesy I think you did a great job especially for not being able to paint!

I'm up for personal swaps! PM me if you would be interested!

That's what I'm hoping, APlus! He's only 3, but he's going to be the coolest kid on the block first play date we have.

He has that light on every time he's in the canopy. He's in love with it. I think that was probably the best $10 a spent. haha

Thanks for the great comments, guys. I appreciate the support. Maybe the next place we move will allow paint and then I can really have some fun!

Yeah, IKEA can be ridiculous sometimes, but it's a one stop shopping trip so I went a little crazy. I looked everywhere for a bed that I loved. The ones that I was really excited about were all about...$1000 too expensive. So, IKEA it was! I actually love the bed so far. It creaks a bit when he's restless and moving from one end of the bed to the other really fast. That's the only negative so far! It also helps that I'm pretty much in love with IKEA's styling. The rest of my house is moving toward a sort of rustic modern (old things with a super modern twist, ie painting old furniture in a really wild color), but I still favor the really modern and colorful things for kids.
