I LOVE your chair, but from what little I can see of your house, I think I love your decorating style even more!  I want a virtual tour of your space!  Is that a purple sofa?!  Where does on acquire such a fabulous piece of furniture?!

My friend gave me a couple of old chairs recently and we've been trying to decide how to reupholster them - my daughter just saw this and got very excited. What beautiful work!

Thanks! I got that rug at a garage sale for $300 a few years ago and I love it to death; it's totally my magic carpet, but it's too big (8x13') for the apartment I live in now so it's in storage at my mom's house in Cleveland. I can't wait to have a space big enough for it again!

I LOVE your chair, but from what little I can see of your house, I think I love your decorating style even more!  I want a virtual tour of your space!  Is that a purple sofa?!  Where does on acquire such a fabulous piece of furniture?!

My mom gave me the sofa, which is a camel back with rolled arms, and originally covered in some ugly southwestern-style fabric. I recovered it (also a slip cover!) with the striped purple sateen. It was very fabulous but I sold it to a friend last year when I started traveling.

Upholstery is so different from making clothes and I find it very satisfying as a change of pace. I'm looking forward to doing some more work soon. I like using an old sheet as a base because it lets you play with the pattern and layout, so I strongly advocate that approach! Also, it really isn't too difficult; it's like wrapping an oddly shaped present!

I actually managed to find some pictures of my old place. A year ago I moved out and sold almost everything I owned and then went backpacking in Europe. My new place (which is 2 doors down from my old house) is smaller and a lot less cluttered.
