Two months before Christmas, my friend decided to make both her mom and her new baby niece or nephew a quilt.  She has zero quilting experience and works full time – yes she is a bit crazy Wink

She taught herself as she went along and had Christmas as a deadline, so she found the experience to be an “ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!” She claims that she wanted to burn everything for many, many weeks 

I think she changed her mind when he saw the results of all her hard work.

She is not on craftster, so I am posting these for her, because she did a really great job!  Please comment and I will post replies from her  to any questions …

The first quilt follows a Yellow Brick Road pattern, by Atkinson Designs http://www.atkinsondesigns.com/patterns/patternDetail.asp?productID=126
She had it quilted by a professional long arm quilter in Chilliwack, BC, Canada.

Here is the first finished quilt

Here is the finished quilt for her mom.

As if making two quilts wasn’t enough, she also made two matching pillows and a bolster!

Wow!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

These quilts look absolutely fantastic - that is A LOT of work.  Considering you taught yourself as you went a long, these quilts are very impressive!

Now that you don't have a deadline and have gotten over the steepest part of the learning curve, I hope you can enjoy the craft of quilting.  It really is a fun rewarding hobby!

Your moms quilt has beautiful coordinating fabric, do you remember which brand it is?

Those are both realllllly gorgeous!  I love the color palette she chose for both quilts, especially the second one.  The piecing looks so even and flat, I'm so impressed!

It was Hoffman fabric

Sorry, my mistake, it was Robert Kaufman Fabric

Simply amazing tell her great job. She did wonderful. Quilting for the first time with a deadline and full time job is not easy.  Tell her I want one too.
