My parents both got laid off this past year so money is tight for them.  I helped them out by sewing gifts for all my cousins kids.  The girls got purses and the boys got super hero capes.

Here are the purses.  The 3 in the top row were for younger girls. 5-8 years old.  The 5 bigger ones were for the teenagers.

Here's one of the big ones being held up.

For some reason, I can't see the pics... must be something wrong with my machine or such. I would love to see your creations! Nevertheless, such a wonderful and considerate act to create all those gifts! You are truly a gift to your parents! May God bless you!
Thanks for sharing!  Mimi!

Hi
These look amazing! I would like to make a bag similar to this, although with a zip and longer handle (So it can be worn across the body) would you consider sharing how you made these? And do you know if it would be difficult to add a zip?

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words everyone!  My aunt told me that at least 2 small purses were loved.  She said my little cousins carried them all day on Christmas and that the 1 little boy on that side of the family LOVED his cape. In fact my 57 year old uncle wants one for the next foot ball game (I made them in the colors of their favorite team)

I used the middle and smallest sizes of this pattern. http://www.simplicity.com/p-2119-accessories.aspx  Once I figured out how they wanted me to insert the strap ends into the purse it was a really simple pattern.

Stormgirl  The longer strap would be pretty easy, but I'm not sure about the zipper.  Zippers and I tend not to get along so I avoid them.  They sell magnetic snaps that wouldn't be too hard to put in though.
