OMG!  My feet are so HAPPY!!

I found some old wool sweaters at the Good Will store and felted them in my washing machine, then I used the felt to make these slippers!

I cut the top and heel from the sleeves of a navy sweater.  The bottom is made from a thicker gray sweater (prepared the same way) and I added some "Grip Tight" to the bottom so they're not slippery on my wood floors.

The cuffs of the sweater sleeves made a natural binding on the top of the slipper and the pretty stripe that was on the top of the sleeve now adorns the toes of the slippers!

So toasty!

Sweet!  I love 'em.  I was just thinking about doing the same thing but maybe adding outdoor soles.  I'm too poor to buy the felted Russian boots (valenki) I've been eyeballing and too lazy to make them myself so the obvious choice would be using a felted sweater.  You've totally inspired me now! The felt I used for the sole is much thicker than the felt used for the upper.  It was a heavy heavy sweater that felted up so NICELY!  Bought for $2 at the Goodwill store.

Go for it!  It's so easy!  Two seams.  Done.  I might just look for some materials that I could use for outdoor wear (or buy galoches) and make some more!

These slippers are great! Has anyone had success with the outdoor soles?

Love, Love, Love them!  Especially that you thought to add non-skid to the bottoms.
