Moving to Vegas in August

I was at First Friday for a few hours myself..  had fun, wandered around and looked at art, handed out flyers for hair show models. I saw a few of my artsy friends selling their stuff, and damn if I don't want a booth there!  Maybe in July, if they email me back this time.  Phooey.

Anyway, I'm going to go try to motivate myself into cleaning my office, making some more earrings, and washing my car.  First, however, is coffee.  Mmmm, coffee...

Hey all I hope everyone is doing well! Just wanted to drop by and say "hi!" at this rate I don't know where I'll be and when... we went from vegas to texas for 4 months now we are moving to Seattle for a better job (that still has us move on a whim!)... After Seattle its either back to Texas or to Phillidelphia!

Hey all!  Staying cool out there?  I was just wondering what everyone is up to, and hoping we can start up (or atleast try) meeting up again?  Summer always seems super busy for me, but maybe we can shoot for the Bi-weekly thing?

As always, I'm game!
My boo is in town from Wales for two more weeks, but after the 4th I'll be free on the weekends for some crafty time.  I think a good start would be going to one of the paint your own pottery places, like was mentioned ages ago.  It's crafty.  It's fun.  It's a place to meet.  The one (and only time ever) that I went to here was the Artful Potter. I liked it.

As far as things around here... ended up at Lake Las Vegas a while ago and the cute resort there.  It's gorgeous.  A nice breath of freshness from the usual vegas stuff.  I wasn't so impressed with Lake Mead... and what's with all the dead bodies cropping up there...?  Been to the chocolate factory, very sweet indeed Alice, my parents thoroughly enjoyed it.  Still havent hit it big playing Bingo but I still daub.

I found a salon to work in FINALLY, and will be starting at Evolve salon (Near Boca Park on Fort Apache & Charleston) in a week or two.

If you'd like to come see me, message me and I'll give you my cell, we can totally set something up.

Ok, and I seriously need some opinions on my tag line for my business cards.  I will have the business name, "Evolve" and so far I like "Contemporary Hair Design by Megan"  as my tag line, but it seems like a bit of a mouthful.  I want to keep with the theme of the phrase, something cutting egde-ish (but cutting edge is WAAY too cliche) without sounding overused or totally cheesy.  So yeah, no "Curl up and Dye" crap 

What do you think, you guys?  Think classy and sophisticated, but edgy.  Ok ok, here's some incentive for this... if somebody comes up with a name that I like, how about a free deep conditioning service?    Let me know what you think, you guys.  I'd love the help!

I actually just had extensions from Curl Up N Dye   and took them out a bit ago.   I am thinking I will need a change come the middle of next month to BLONDE again and a fun new cut...

I will try to think of a tagline for you, but generally I am bad at that stuff.

Anyways, for get togethers what day of the week is generally best for everyone?  I searched for the SnB group of Las Vegas and they meet the second sunday of each month, the Yahoo! Group is here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kneonknitters/ if anyone is interested in that.  It's pretty far away for me but I may check it out some time.

Saturdays or Sundays are best for me.  I don't know which days my grad classes will be on... but once i do perhaps some weekday evening could work...I want to make more of my weekdays.  That Vegas SnB group seems interesting.  I wonder if theyre an older crowd... since the picture said it was knitted by a member for a granddaughter.  Not that theres anything wrong with that.  I could definitely improve my knitting skills...

I need to make some wedding/bridal shower gifts and I'm just not sure what to do.  All these dang weddings coming up.

Well, right now my schedule is pretty scattered.  I'm still waiting to hear back from a few places on employment, and while my husband is waiting to hear back from the places he applied he has been doing on call work...taking the only car.  So, for the next few weeks anyway, my schedule is very open, however transportation is the sticky bit for me.  If you guys want to set something up then I'm totally in, and maybe we could work out a carpool thing if necessary.    

As far as the SnB, aschnebly, when I was looking for a local knitting group I came up with something else.  I'll have to look up the website again but I wrote down their info.  It's the Las Vegas Knitters.  They meet every 1st Friday at 7:00pm at the Barnes and Noble at 2191N Rainbow btwn Lake Mead and Smoke Ranch Rd and every 3rd Monday at 6:00pm at ReJAVAnation at 3300E Flamingo at Pecos Rd.

I'm up for anything. Knitting, pottery painting, or even a non-crafty adventure.  We could do lunch or even just coffee if that all anyone has time for. Just let me know!

so I kind of started this little blog about the things Im finding here in Vegas. www.thrifteye.blogs pot.com

its chronicling (sp?) the things i have already found, and the things I continue to find here. I seriously hit the search about three times a week. I rotate between Deseret Industries, Opportunity Village, Savers, and the other small thrift stores (I just found a great one in North town). Then I save weekends for the outdoor swapmeet. Albeit its getting excruitatingly hot to go there now.

So I heard the word is that a new store is opening up in downtown. Right behind the artists lofts on Casino Center, right where all the FF stuff happens. Its going to be a record store, that sells all kinds of musical goodies. Its supposed to be fixed up really nice, and I think they will slowly start selling clothes there too. The last I heard, its supposed to be open on the August First Friday. Finally, a new chill spot!

I know I need to start getting my butt into crafting again, but since they hired me as a full time substitute I dont have time for anything, not even sleep it seems. So my track break is coming up in a few days, and Imma go to Mexico. Finally, a real trip! I used to hate it when people would say "But you go to Vegas all the time", it totally doesnt count as a vacation.
