I have 2 boys - 5,3 who love playing with their leapster (they were sharing one, but we bought the 3yr old his very own leapster for christmas this year)

and I made 2 leapster custom bags for them.  i used plastic canvas to make it nice and stiff inside.

front of bag with clip on removable embroidered handle:

back of bag:  snap/elastic pocket for holding headphones:

bag open showing pouch pocket - zipper closure for cartridges:

zippered pocket showing cartridges (sorry it's blurry!):

inside shot showing the leapster - with cartridge attached fitting nicely in the bag:

a pic of my 3yr old approving of his new bag (his is blue; his brother's is red):

feedback appreciated.  i think i incorporated all the elements i felt were necessary for a child on the go with his leapster - no space for chargers, etc but really, what does a kid bring with him on the go?  just the game unit and a couple cartridges!  Smiley

This is a cool idea! My daughter has a set of Tag Reader books and a tag reader wand - also by LeapFrog. I never thought to create a "bag" or something to keep them all in. It would be a nice thing to have to keep her little brother (he's not quite 2 and into everything!) from getting his little hands on her wand and wasting the batteries. You are very creative to think of doing this!

Thanks for the idea!

My lil guy has both the tag with books, and just got the leapster thing today!

I'm so gonna make a bag for the game thing and for his books!

What a great idea!

this has worked out well, ya'll!  my kids really like their bags and the cartridges are no longer strewn all over the floor all the time!!

so i encourage you to go ahead and make your projects, too!  Smiley

so cute, where do you get this bag, so can modify as leapster bag. I like it

i don't understand your question.  i took the kid's leapster, traced it and used that for a starting point for a pattern to make their bags.

it's not that hard to draft a pattern.  you can do it!
