When I saw this piece of wonder http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=326559.0 here on craftster, and another one in felt I cannot find back.... I felt I had found the perfect christmas present for my brother and his girlfriend... But I also am a school teacher and I have a 4yo believing in Santa Claus... so no way to work unless I am done with my school preps and that she is sleeping.

My goal was to use what I had, as my brother, his girlfriend and I are in this kind of mood hahahaha. I first sew the pieces of fabric ( I have a whole box full of small pieces of fabric, just in case I need them) on a black fabric I was given for table towel. I had two of them ! Then I embroidered the edges of each shape, a sun, the flowers stems and the shape of the bushes, using different stitches. This is why I am done just today... But I am lucky! My brother comes back from some vacations tomorrow, so no probs!!

Then I cut some brown pieces of fabric to make the hanging possible.... And here you are!

Here are some pics:

flowers:

tree and 'leaves'

and the whole thing:

it's about 30cm by 30cm

I like the use of the black background. It makes the colors pop. Beautiful job. So was this for your brother? How did he like it?

I wasn't there when they received it but... They loved it!! My brother's girlfriend really fell in love with it. I am so happy they loved it!! It's in their hallway, just in front of the door Cheesy

Now i am working on some embroidery on a dark blue background. It will be a simple one, stem stitches or just backstitches, just to train.

Nice. I like how you put the bright colors onto the black. Makes it shine.
