This is a Christmas gift for my mom, who is in desperate need of a large bulletin board for her computer room/office.  The one she has now is the size of a sheet of paper.  The colors of the room are beige (walls), purple and green ... it's not as crazy as it sounds, really!  The purple and green are accent colors.

Anyway, I bought a roll of cork - the kind with an adhesive back.  They also sell squares of cork, but those looked so small to me.  I also bought a piece of foam board, because the roll of cork is very thin.  Measured and cut the foam board to size then attached the cork to it.  Trimmed the edges.

Then I mixed up a pretty purple (I didn't have any on hand) and painted the cork.  Once dry, I hot-glued the green ribbon around the edges, securing on the back as well.  I used little glass beads to make "flowers" in two corners and hot glued bows in the other two.  I also hot glued the mounting brackets on the back (I was afraid the little nails they provide would go through).

To make it more personal, I used paintpens to draw on more of the glass beads, which I then hot glued to the little pushpins (the ones with the white tops) ...

You can't tell, but they spell out her name, plus 'Love' and my name, along with a few random flowers and polka dots.
