This Fiber Friday lands on Christmas Day!   Cheesy

If you're like me, hanging out with friends & family fills up the week leading to christmas.
Not much time to craft!

Instead of showing off what we've spun this week,
show off any fiber-related gifts you give or receive  Smiley

Feel free to continue adding to this thread until next Fiber Friday
Next Friday lands on New Years day, and we'll be back to showing off our yarns

Hooray! I'm finally joining the Fiber Friday ranks!

I got a drop spindle, a niddy-noddy, and a ball winder, as well as a needle felting tool and a GIANT bag of miscellanious fibres.  My familly loves me  Grin

I made my first yarn this morning!

It's crazy-coloured because I was using the itty bitty bits of roving/carded wool from my fiber bag.  I'm proud of it, though!

Ohh I love the crazy yarn that results from so many different colors.
Nifty drop spindle!

I don't have any neat pictures atm, but my dad bought me an alpaca fleece.
I have no idea how to prepare & spin alpaca, so this is going to be a whole new journey of discovery.
My dad was so sweet, he even managed to take a photo of the alpaca the fleece came from!

It appears I take bad photos of good projects.
Last year I got 4 batts as a holiday spin along. I predrafted them together so the 4 colors alternated. Then spun it up, and plied with a green sewing thread. I knew it had to be 'something' for my mom- the colors and shine are just up her alley. About thanksgiving I figured out a basic shawl pattern and then knew that's what grandma would get! She LOVED it.

I wanted to make my dad a matching scarf with what was left, but didn't have enough.  Cry Gratefully I had started this scarf over the summer and it needed about 10 rows to finish.

I had been given a HUGE pile of random bits of polar fleece from a mama friend who has a business making jackets. A number of these pieces were long and thin. I have a fabric cutter- it's made to cut strips of fabric for rug weaving. (I totally scored it at a weavers guild sale a few years ago.) So a bunch of the bits got cut into 1/2 inch strips and used to knit! I call it Flarn, Fleece yarn. Dad was so stoaked with how warm it was!
Now I feel kind of empty inside. I need some new projects!

A little late, but I'm thrilled! My first hand spun and dyed yarn! It's about sixty grams worth, and I'm very pleased.

I've dyed some more roving, and I hope to do some more soon.

No fiber for me, but I did receive two lovely Ulysses Grants with which I may procure all the fiber I can. xD

No fiber here either, but I did get all 3 sizes of the Kromski niddy noddy and a year subscription to Handwoven! My bf's mom got my name in their family's gift exchange and she said she loved shopping on thewoolery.com for me. Those kinds of crafts being so new to her made it really interesting for her. Now I know where to send her for my birthday coming up in February!  Wink
